Fellowship & Faith
Bible Study, Book Study
We will all need support when we enter the tough times and the more difficult situations in our lives. It's important to have relationships built up BEFORE those hit to have someone to help you walk through those times with prayer and Godly insight. Hence the Body of Christ (the Church). However, it can be difficult to connect in large church services and sometimes even in small groups. The primary intent of this group is to cultivate those individual relationships as we learn about each other and grow in our walk with the Lord.
This summer cycle we are also going to be diving into a book called In His Image by Philip Yancey and Dr. Paul Brand. It is an older Christian book that is actually a sequel to their first book entitled Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. We are starting with the second book for weird, personal reasons, but it's not necessary to read the first to understand the second (wanna know why we are doing the sequel, ask me). Anyway, it is a wonderful book about a metaphor used over 30 times in the New Testament: The Body of Christ. The book uses medical and anatomical knowledge as well as firm grounding in the scripture to delve into the analogy (or metaphor) to explore "the connections, the forces uniting and guiding [the] Body, and the involvement of God Himself." - from the preface by Philip Yancey.
